The community energy movement is growing in Europe, but Central and Eastern Europe faces specific challenges in establishing civil society initiatives. Life COMET supports the creation of community energy coalitions at national level in Eastern European countries. Partners also support the development of new energy communities through training and technical assistance.

LIFE-COMET will…

…form community energy coalitions by identifying, engaging and empowering relevant national CE stakeholders

…explore local specificities to create a better understanding for CE-related engagement and then create favorable framework conditions and improved market conditions through coalitions’ advocacy, development of tools, methodologies and technical support for catalyzing new CE initiatives

…build on top of and complement the existing networks, platforms and projects with an innovative and comprehensive approach to tackling the specificities of CE hurdles in Eastern EU

…replicate and disseminate the developed tools, methodologies, experiences and business models, thus scaling up the impact and further increasing the number of CE initiatives in this region.

The project partners have a high understanding of the intricate and underlying barriers and obstacles which are hindering the rollout of citizen engagement in community RES projects in this part of the EU. It is built up of cooperatives, NGOs and academic partners, thus covering a wide set of expertise necessary for successful implementation of project’s activities and its significant impacts.
